Origs AND remakes! (incomplete)
Posted by jhoyzkie81 under Lists/Quizzes | Tags: books, classics, contemporaries, films, literature, movies, originals, plays, remakes, scripts |Yep, for I think that, as much as possible, we should stick to the originals to pay more respect to their creators (and, well, critically, there’s nothing quite like them)… AND that, sometimes, things just have to be remade to make them more understandable (and, commercially, more appealing) to watch…. (That would be all. Thank you very much. Bow.)

Umm, every play Shakespeare wrote except The Tempest was a remake, a rewrite in some way or another of something. He was a remake artist. The original Lear, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet were all old material by the time Shakespeare reworked them.

Thanks for putting my blog on your list. Like the site, the serious mixed with whimsy, if I can put it that way. I see you are involved in literary editing..are you still doing that?

You’re welcome! And thanks for the compliment! This site is also sort of like my on-line portfolio so, yeah, both serious and whimsy stuff are found here. Anyways, uh, no, I’m not involved in literary editing anymore as I’m no longer a part of any org at my alma mater. Just trying my hand at blogging etc nowadays.

Seeing as you are into originals and remakes, my novel Uncorrected Proof might interest - filled with parodies http:elephantearspress.com. You could make it the next ‘literary thing/trend ‘ in the Philippines ;). By the way spent time there when I was living and making films in Hong Kong. Even filmed a volcano there once. Loved the climate, the whole place. Keep writing and reading and analysing and commenting.

Wow! A novel (with a nice title)! Hope the bookstores here already have copies of it so I could grab one and, yes, set a trend. (Bet it’s a great read so I’ll recommend it to my Literary Interpretation/Criticism professor, etc.) Haha! And you used to be a filmmaker? Imagine that, I really don’t know what to say. That is just so cool, too! (Hope you’ll love the Philippines still if you ever happen to swing by here again.) And, oh, thanks for the advice. Wish I could write intellectually, too (so I could comment on your entries). =>
